Water temps for this open water swim course typically hover around 60° at this time of year so wetsuits are HIGHLY recommended! Beginning at the dock near the swim beach, athletes will swim a clockwise, rectangular course, turning right at the first green buoy and keeping all buoys on their right. Kiddie pools will be provided to rinse the sand from your feet on your way to T1.

Rolling hills at the base of the fabulous Flatirons! The views on this course can’t be beat! Athletes will leave the park through the main entrance, then head south for a right on Jay Rd. At about the 3 mile marker, you will vere right onto 28th St, then again onto N Foothills Hwy. At about the 7 mile point you will come to Neva Rd where you will make a right hand turn. After about 2 miles you will ride south & east onto Niwot Rd, then in another 2 miles you will turn right onto N 63rd St. After approximately 1.5 miles heading south you’ll approach the aid station… just in time to turn right onto the Diagonal Hwy, hit Jay Rd again for a short stretch & head back into the park the way you came & get set for T2.
Due to the construction on the corner of Diagonal and Jay, all bikers will ride on Diagonal Hwy for a ½ Mile before making a sharp right into the Private Entrance of the Boulder Reservoir. You will ride on a 420 foot section of dirt road which will be covered up so that you do not have to dismount, but ride carefully! Once you are in the park, you will use Reservoir Rd to get back to Transition.
NOTE: You will be cycling on roads that are open to traffic. Please stay right and stay on the shoulder. If you would need to leave the boundaries of the shoulder to pass… DON’T PASS!
